Here is what Ross Ackerman had to say about DreamHost and the overall experience with their web hosting service.
Dreamhost has always had a solid reputation, or from what I have read and heard they have. I had no reason to believe otherwise when I considered them for my own hosting needs.

Account Setup Feedback

I give this a 5 at best. I struggled to get Dreamhost working (as well as their CSR’s!) for several hours before finally giving a much more advanced user take a look at it. He said that the interface was strange but the problem was all on their end. We eventually got it up with the help of another employee that we got in contact with.

Host Reliability

So far, Dreamhost has been very reliable and I have witnessed no down-time of my websites. However, this is all subjective since I don’t keep adequate logs on my websites just yet but I plan on starting very soon. 10 out of 10 (for now).

Pricing Info

Dreamhost is reasonably priced compared to their main competitors though I do have the suspicion that their customer service is feeling the pinch of their low prices. So while I want to give the pricing a 10, I think that this would only help to make them think that it’s ok to sacrifice customer service for price so I give it an 8.

Final Host Comments

Even though I am still with Dreamhost right now, I can’t give them anymore than a 7 out of 10. While this is not bad, it’s not great, either. If it wasn’t such a pain to move hosts I would have already done so. Plus, everything has been pretty good since the initial ripples so I think I will let sleeping dogs lie.

Dreamhosts’ customer service has been adequate. I give it a 7 out of 10. I have been made to wait much too long several times and I have had customer service reps that told me outright they didn’t know the answer to my question about their services and that no one else that was there would know the answer. However, I was told to call back after a while and got the answer then.
