I was looking for a reliable hosting company without all of the gimmicks that would work for my fairly basic and minimal hosting needs. I think that I’ve found it in pair.com. It has a clean site and clear, concise information on their hosting packages without any tricks.

Account Setup Feedback

The account setup process for pair.com was not difficult. The only annoyance for me personally was the $5 charge for setup. The fee is larger if you purchase some of the other plans. However, the process did go quickly and seemed to be fairly intuitive if you have a general understanding of what you are doing.

Host Reliability

Pair.com’s homepage states that they have a monitered system 24 hours per day with a multi-redundant network to help ensure that any server glitches are caught and subsequently repaired very quickly so you’re sites will not experience much down-time. They also have a good system to keep information backed up in the case of hard drive failures or other problems.

Pricing Info

There is a small $5 set up fee for shared hosting packages, which is more an annoyance than a pricing issue. Anyway, I feel that pair.com’s pricing scale is fair and they do actually offer prepayment discounts. For example, if you prepay an entire year, you will receive 8% off the total price. If you prepay six months then it will be a 4% discount and so on. They do offer a refund which includes the setup fee if you aren’t satisfied with your new hosting service within one month.

Final Host Comments

Pair.com will hopefully remain a hosting company that I can stick with. Their prices are not the best to be found, but I enjoy their hosting service since it allows you to use as much bandwidth as needed and has pretty minimal charges in case of over-usage measured in GB.

I have enjoyed their customer support line as I have rarely experienced a wait to speak with a customer support agent. The only downside is that the line is only answered between 8 am and 8 pm (Eastern Time) on weekdays. If you do your work online between theses hours you will not find it to be any inconvenience. If not, you will have to use the customer support email. I would recommend setting up your account during the phone line’s business hours so you can call and get immediate answers if you have any trouble with things initially.
