In our finally report for November statistics, we compare each web hosts server uptime percentages and rank them according to best uptime to worst uptime.

With these results, it is important to note that we had 5 minute ping resolutions set on our testing servers for the majority of the month. After the 24th of November, we increased our resolution to 1 minute pings to get better results on server uptime. Due to the 5 minute ping resolution, the uptimes are based on MINIMUM results. The actual results would be higher.

To better explain that, our servers sent a communication request once every five minutes. If it found it was offline, it wouldn’t check for uptime again for another five minutes therefore producing a 5 minute outage. If they were only down for 20 seconds, we still report it as 5 minutes.

Starting November 24th, we increased it to a new 1 minute resolution. Look for these more accurate results in January 2008.

Top Web Hosts for Server Uptime in November 2007

For the second month in a row, HostICan had zero downtime to report for November. Amazing. The top three web hosts based on server uptime was HostICan with 100% uptime, then HostGator with 99.94 uptime, and finally Globat with 99.91% uptime.

What was most interesting about these results was the difference between LunarPages and IX Web Hosting was a matter of one extra minute of downtime. This is the closest tie breaker we’ve had! Amazing.

The HostNine 96.11% uptime was due to a server migration via their reseller account from a California server to a Texas server. I discuss this HostNine server migration on the HostNine Hosting Review blog. Here’s the HostNine customer service experience we had during this process as well.
