Pretty excited, 7 or 8 years ago in 2000, that we could get a solid windows based host with all the various MS supports.

In the 7 or 8 years that we've used NetNation the increasing rate of failures of the host has been dramatic. All of them have been caused by crazy practices at the host, and the tech support response is invariant: There is a problem with the coding of the site. This, of course ignores the fact that the problem occured immediately after some server upgrade and that the site has been stable since the last upgrade.

It seems likely that the last server upgrade (to MS SQL Server) has introduced some problem that NetNation is unable to resolve. So we are going to have rewrite the application in a hurry (as we have paying customers) and target a reliable host/technology platform.

Compared to LAMP hosts, we are paying a lot. We're prepared to pay this since the Windows stack is a lot of effort.

It's never easy setting up even a moderately complicated application on someone else's host, and 7 or 8 years later, I can recall the month of back and forth needed to get things going. One would have thought that having MS Certified techs would limit the problems, but one would be surprised.

If the tech support were helpful it would be worth staying with Net Nation as host, but the feigned ignorance, stone-walling, crazy delays, and so on, mean that we're going to have to spend a big slice of what should have been profit to survive.
