Here is what Dennis Cole had to say about MidPhase and the overall experience with their web hosting service.

Great host for the beginner or novice. If you are a beginner I would go with shared hosting. But for the novice that wants total control of their website go with a virtual private server or a dedicated server depending on your needs.

I think their name has gotten tarnished by some last minute overselling to increase their customer base inorder to sell for a higher price. Check my conclusion of this reveiw.

Account Setup Feedback

I gotta go with a 9 because when I first got my vps they didn't have my vps template setup correctly. They may have it fixed for new clients by now I would imagine.

Host Reliability

In the 3 years I have been with midphase there has been 2 major outages. The first one within a few months of me hosting with them was only a hour or two. Which was for the server to run a file system check. The second one which was just a month or so ago. It was more severe causing 4-6 hours downtime. It was even longer for others. There was a major hardware failure within their network.

Reliability will be greatly increasing with their relocation to a new data center with all new hardware including servers.

Pricing Info

Their prices used to be better for their VPS and Dedicated servers before they got bought out by UK2 Group. Well their prices really haven't changed but their packages have changed. One of the main differences I noticed was the change on the VPS plan. It used to have 512 Ram burstable to 2 gigs, but now it is 384 ram burstable to 1536. I'm glad that I'm locked in with the 512 ram plan.

Final Host Comments

Midphase has had their ups and downs. They were great when I first started hosting with midphase, but then their support got sluggish along with a few uptime problems. I know why now. They were overselling so that they could get a larger customer base in order to sell the companies of midphase for a higher price tag. Now that UK2 Group took over things have gotten back to normal and should be get even better once they get done with the data center migration.

This is just my educated guess of why so many bad comments have popped up about midphase in the past year or so. I am in no way affiliated with midphase. My day job is in Quality Control(CMM Operator/programmer) in the auto industry.

Every time I need some support I get a reply within 45 minutes every time which is just fine for my needs. I have never used their phone support so I can not comment on it. I like using their ticket system which will store your support tickets for future reference.



Most of the support I have needed is because of my own ignorance. And the help I received has taught me how to take care of problems on my own.
