I was with Hostway for years. I changed because of the relatively poor feature support and high costs. I wrote to them asking them to "terminate my account and let me know the date it will expire". I had two domains with them, one had 3 days to go and the other over a week. Their billing department cut my account within the hour, they never notified me and I was left with no email address and no web site in the middle of changing jobs.

All my emails have been returned with two line replies along the line of "Please contact billing" including the email I sent to billing!! I am up to date with payments, in fact they now owe me money for the period during which my account was prematurely closed but paid for. Their technical support divisions in the USA and the UK have stated it was unacceptable as has their customer service department in the UK. Their billing department sent an email saying "we closed it like you asked". i.e. what's the problem?

I closed it because with other providers I had unlimited storage space, IMAP, Domain Aliases, better control of Anti-Spam, better response to support requests and a fraction of the price.

OK but no IMAP and you can't switch off their AntiSpam tools unless you pay extra??

I was with Hostway for years, admittedly it was mostly problem free but then they don't really have to do much. I have two friends with terrible experiences, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
