Although HostV is priced very competitively for their VPS hosting and dedicated servers, unfortunately they do not list shared hosting on their site as an option. Therefore, when we compare their pricing to our leading web hosting providers, we find their price is obviously much higher since shared hosting is not the same breed as VPS hosting or dedicated servers.

Since customer hosting reviews focuses on shared hosting for our price value, HostV obviously ranks below average for this reason.

For VPS hosting, we find the prices at HostV to be very competitive. Currently, with every VPS purchased, they are offering double RAM as a limited time offer which adds an excellent value to their VPS hosting service.

HostV has an active presence on several web hosting forums and actively discusses any problems customers may run into with their web hosting. On top of that, we have found most of the complaints that were posted were resolved in a timely fashion.

HostV provides their VPS hosting customers with the most popular control panel, cPanel control panel. HostV also offers Fantastico with all of managed VPS plans. Fantastico allows the easy installation of over 50 scripts to your cPanel accounts.

For those that wish to manage their own servers and save money, HostV offers unmanaged VPS plans without cPanel.

HostV was recently put to the test in March, 2010 when one of their VPS nodes, during routine maintenance, had a rare RAID card failure resulting in data corruption on all hard drives. They also experienced an issue with the data restore process and was forced to restore each account manually which is very time consuming.

Based on the threads we have read, we found HostV did the best they could do under the circumstances. Our only complaint was the fact that some customers were down for over a week during this rare event and were only offered a month of free service. But overall, we felt HostV handled the issue very professionally. It is always good to compare customer service when something catastrophic happens, we did, and they past the test.
