Here is what Jimmy had to say about HostGator and the overall experience with their web hosting service.

I thought that my hosting was great, 3000 GB, lots of storage, and I thought it was great. I also used a coupon to save almost $10.00 on it so that made me happy. The prices are a little high though.

Account Setup Feedback

I wasn't happy at all with the account set up and how it worked. Any other hosting that I have ever worked with had my account up and my domain (if I purchased one with the hosting) in a matter of minutes, hours at the most. With Hostgator, I waited 48 hours as suggested, and my domain still didn't work. Then I contact support, and they told me to open a ticket, etc. I did that and they said they fixed it but it didn't work. I then spoke with another representative and finally my domain began to work. I was disappointed that it took so long.

Host Reliability

I have not experienced any downtime with my host and I am very happy how it is working for me. It took a couple of days to actually get my website up and running, with nameservers propagating and stuff, but I have not had any problems since.

Pricing Info

The pricing on this service is decent. They have 3000 GB bandwidth which is great, but you only get 1 domain. This was a put off for me, but with the coupon I used, I got a domain, and a month of hosting for under $20, so I am quite happy.

Final Host Comments

This host service is quite good, though I do not suggest buying a domain from them because it takes forever to get up and running and you will just find yourself fighting with the staff to get it running. Other than that, it has good prices, good uptime, good support. I would recommend it, though others don't (I don't know why).

I really like their customer support. They have a live chat tool that allows you to chat with an online person. I have used this twice already, just to get nameservers worked out and get my site up and running. One thing that I wasn't all that happy about was that one guy I spoke to was very slow to respond, but the other guy was great.
