Here is what Alaric Adair had to say about 1and1 and the overall experience with their web hosting service.Nice software applications and hopeless Customer support. Having experienced their customer support I would not use them for business applications. The risk is too great.

It is a bit bit switch and bait: Low initial prices then ramp up; Contract periods not clearly stated; Extra charges/fines for late pay/cc charge back etc reported propensity to use fee recovery companies.
Final Host Comments
A good offering ruined by atrocious Customer Support. If you never have problems it is cheap and cheerful. I've never before been turned against an organisation so quickly or irrevocably.

Not interested in helping and seem more interested in providing a fast response rather than dealing with the issue.
They appear to be prone to passing you on to another department. They also have a premium rate number for billing and customer support, i.e. you pay through the nose to sit in their phone queue.
