Lunarpages.com was not a name that I was familiar with for hosting providers. I only came across it through a blind google search, but I’m glad that I did. It looked to be a good deal and since I had no allegiances to any other hosting providers (all of the others I have tried have turned out to be rip-offs), I decided to give it a try. The reason I decided to go for the virtual private server, or VPS, hosting account was because I thought it was the best option since it is unlikely that I’ll need the amount of space and resources that an entire dedicated server would provide. This way saves me money.

Account Setup Feedback

The account setup process is free which is a good feature. Otherwise, it is what you would expect for a hosting provider’s account setup form.

Host Reliability

For an extra 10 bucks per month you can get a monitored server but I have found that my service has been quite reliable without wasting the money each month. I hope that this trend will continue. They do advertise a 99.9% uptime even without the extra 10 dollar charge so I don’t think it’s worth it for an extra .1% of uptime.

Pricing Info

The VPS hosting account that I have chosen is a nice value for the options included. I pay about 40 bucks per month and that includes free domain, 1000 GB of bandwidth each month, 20000 MB of storage, and 1 GB back up FTP space, among other things. The only catch is that to get that price you have to sign up for 12 months. Since they have a 30 day money back guarantee (and free setup), I don’t mind that, because it is unlikely that I would want to switch before that amount of time anyway.

Final Host Comments

Lunarpages.com has so far been better than any of the hosting providers that I’ve used prior to it. I think it is a good value, especially for people looking for VPS hosting plans.

I consider the customer support service of lunarpages to be pretty decent. I don’t expect too much in the way of customer service because of my past experiences and the lack of helpfulness that I have encountered in customer support methods for other hosting companies, but lunarpages’ customer support reps have definitely exceeded my expectations.
