I was surprised when I first stumbled across Lunarpages hosting. I had hosted with several companies in the past and with my current web venture I was worried any other host would kill the site if any 'adult' content slipped in. Since this was going to be a very lenient public forum, I was very aware members could post whatever they wanted and there was a very real possibility of certain people not being very PC (no pun intended).

I was very skeptical at first, with claims on the front page of being the webs '#1 Host' as well as a ridiculously generous amount of space and more importantly BANDWIDTH! They also claim unlimited e-mail accounts, near instant, free setup and free domain name! For around $7 a month this could all be mine... Now the hard part, the restrictions on my hosting... I could not believe my eyes, they not only allow, but they essentially WELCOME adult content! They are firm believers in free speech and do not censor their clients in any way, with the obvious exception of illegal content.

Now of course with a forum, I need some way to host the forum. Amazingly I realized they support just about EVERY technology I could think to use. PHP, MySql, XML, Flash, SSI and More! It all comes with unlimited FTP accounts and you can create up to 1000 databases!!!

I stopped looking for sites when I found Lunarpages, and IMMEDIATELY signed up. And yes, the setup was as close as possible to being immediate, no 2-3 day waits like I've experienced in the past.

Account Setup Feedback

The account set up was very easy, I quickly found the address for my FTP account as well as my MySQL database! I have yet to run into any problems setting up the site initially as well as setting up the database and installing my forum.

Host Reliability

The service has been pretty reliable. My data seems very safe and secure, the only issue I have had was a day when they had a power outage due to a storm, with a few days since I've signed up having issues related to upgrading their servers. I did have a problem for a few days with the site running slow as well, but that was fixed soon after I brought it to the attention of the staff. Now don't get me wrong, these issues pale in comparison to every other web server I have been with. Definitely seems like the highest uptime as well!

Pricing Info

This is the BEST priced hosting for the space and bandwidth IF you need the potential for adult content, php, and mysql. BY FAR. I can give unlimited FTP accounts and E-Mail accounts out. Since I have joined the price has been lowered TWICE and bandwidth AND space both increased TWICE!!! A definite 10 for pricing easily, I would throw an 11 here if I could.

I have since joined added additional domains and plan on sticking to this account for as long as I have sites running. I don't think I'll ever try anything else besides Lunarpages!

Anytime I have EVER experienced a problem, it has been answered within 10 minutes of opening a help ticket! The customer service people were very knowledgeable and helpful. No generic answers to my problems, no re-explaining things 100 times. They really are online 24/7 as they claim!
