AN Hosting came highly recommended to us from the Drupal community, in particular Ubercart, which they sponsor. We were looking for a dependable Drupal host because we found that our previous host, BlueHost, was not interested in supporting Drupal. I signed up for AN Hosting and tried a few Drupal sites there and found they performed better than at BlueHost, so we moved our site over.

The MO of their tech support appears to be to deny that the problem exists, and/or to offer some lame-ass "solution" like clearing your browser cache (To resolve slow response time? Really?). Literally every single message I sent to support was answered by a different tech, so there was no real thread of conversation, and each new tech rarely read through the existing thread but just responded to the most recent note. I meticulously documented the problems I was complaining about, with graphs and statistics, but I was just wasting my time because as far as I can tell they did not look at any of it.

Literally the day our site went live on AN Hosting, we started having performance problems, both with that account and with the other I had previously opened. We monitored the site remotely from two locations, one in Iowa and one in Minnesota. Both indicated that response time increased more than 10x during the daytime hours, to more than 20 seconds per page load. Our own traffic increased only 2x during those hours, so it was apparent that another client's traffic was causing our problem, but AN Hosting flatly refused to move us to another server. Meanwhile the other account (which was on another server) had no such delays but would occasionally just drop out of service for hours at a time. Again, support denied there was a problem and would take no action.

This was the one high point of our misadventure with AN Hosting: it hardly cost us a thing. Early on they accidentally canceled our account instead of another client's (!!!) and refunded our money, and when I reported that our account was closed they were so embarrassed that they didn't charge us again. So if you're going to go with them, I recommend having a billing accident in your favor -- it may help make the horrible support worthwhile.

Can't complain here.

This may once have been a legitimate, good hosting option, but it seems to be under new management that just doesn't give a shit. I recommend giving them shit to make up for it.
My Final Overall AN Hosting Rating: 2/10
