Very poor non professional
1. they will not respond on email during weekend
2. They will take 3 working days to respond.
3. Every time a new techperson and a new story
4. Will never admit there mistake

When you open account with them on shared server the site will perform well but just after few months they will load thousands of website and database on shared servers and they will get slower and slower.
If you want to get good performance then you will need to move to dedicated hosting. I had this experience with two different website both are UK based websites i am developer of both the websites.
These websites were hosted on different servers and different accounts but they had same performance issue after few months.
There database servers are get very slow while the webserver dose not impact that much.

After few months when we were pushed to get dedicated server by continuous slow performance of server out troubles started.
when i asked support that how can i upgrade to new server they gave url of FAQs etc where information is vague and unclear.
I was mainly concerned about SSL and physical paths. Support was unable to tell me about these issues. First they told that SSL will not be carried to new account, i got worried about it because i have paid SSL for 5 years. After several emails and days i was told that dedicated server already have SSL certificate installed.
After several days i was told to contact server department and they also did not tell every thing i asked.
Well i upgraded because i was suffering from slow servers. Before upgrade i told them that i am using SSL for subdomains as well so make sure it keep working in same way.
But they did not do so. Now it has been around 2 weeks and i am emailing them about the issue after every 2 days i receive a reply with new sotry.
First they told me that as there is only one IP on available on server so ssl will not work on subdomains. When i told them that this is not an issue and it is possible by using * wild card in CSR.
Then after few days i received a new story that ssl can't work on subdomains and if it was working in my previous package it was our mistake and 1and1 dose not provide this service (i don't know what extra service i asked).
I have asked them to tell me where it is stated that ssl will not work on subdomain lets see what they reply.
The non professionalism can be seen form a reply where they said "ssl is working on subdomains it will just show a warning" God damn it if someone is receiving warning on checkout pages will he place the order?
The main problem with them is that every time a new support person replies and he dose not mind the full context of your request.

Don't go to host your site on 1and1 it will be very difficult to switch to some other hosting.
Never upgrade ...
